My wife is about to buy a 2007 Z4. Full service history.

When you sit in it at idle you can feel vibration through the car. You can see the gear lever is vibrating.

Can any owner tell me if this normal for a Z4 2.0i?

No it is not normal, BMW's are renowned for being smooth.

Glad to hear you are thinking of joining the fold.

With regards to your question the answer is no this is not normal in my experience. Z4s aren't the last word in refinement however, they are not prone to that sort of vibration at idle. As far as sports cars go though they are quite luxurious and you should expect a certain amount of refinement.

By way of comparison my mate's S2000's gear knob vibrates quite well at idle has been mollycoddled from new so it is not necessarily a symptom of misuse or lack of servicing. I would try a few other's and see what you think but part of the fun of a sports car is the feeling of being close to your motoring a few vibrations won't hurt.

Happy hunting and I hope you find one you are happy with soon. smile

The 2.0 is presumably not a straight six which would be smooth as silk, instead it's a four cylinder which would be rougher but still not like what you're describing.

They're not rare, buy another instead
