Should I?

need one to accommodate a BIG dog.

Can't comment on price but I ran a hatch version (10 plate) from new to 101500 miles in three years and the only thing that broke was a brake light bulb. Still felt brand new the day I gave it back, not a squeak or a rattle anywhere. st dealers but great car.

Sounds identical to what my dad runs.

He quite likes it in that it hasn't gone wrong, it's as fun to drive as any other white goods motoring option, massive amounts of space - generally pretty impressed. £8-9k sounds about right depending on spec.
