Morning all,

I'm thinking about driving down to the Concorso d'Eleganza on the bank holiday weekend.

So - suggestions for routes etc? Anyone been - tips for the day? Must sees / must dos?

Thinking of leaving early Friday morning, returning on the Monday.

Cheers!

We drove down to the Mille Miglia last year and made a three-week holiday out of it. Schedule as follws:

Afternoon chunnel crossing, first night in Cambrai. Second day meandering down through France, stopping at the old Reims circuit for indulgent photos, second night at Dole.

Third day on to Chamonix Mont Blanc and an afternoon wandering around the town, with a rather nice hotel at the foot of the Mont.

Fourth day into Italy where we stayed at a Spa hotel for 5 days on the shores of Lago di Iseo - so quite a bit further into Italy than you're planning to go.

We then had a villa in Tuscany for a further week and another meandering ride along the Flower coast and up the Route Napoleon (which was stunning!)

TBH, if I was doing it again, I wouldn't bother with the run down through France and back; I'd either put the car on the train in Holland and go overnight to Alessandria, or fly to one of the Northern Italian airports and hire a car. Costs are very similar for all three ways of getting there!
