TVR logo rocker covers... oil filler?
Discussion
Have seen advertised a nice set of rocker covers with a cast/milled TVR logo on the top surface of each. I'm told these were originally fitted to an early Griff. Mine just have tacky badges (97 Chimp). Assume they will fit as they look identical in terms of dimensions and fasteners etc? BUT they have no oil filler neck and I'm told the Griff donor had some sort of remote filler plumbed elsewhere... how, where, retro-fit?
pupp,
I have a 93 chim, this came with this type of rocker cover, funny enough in the middle of an engine bling up

, and have cleaned off the old paint repainted (dark blue) then polished the raised ribbing and TVR logo looks v pretty now!
Picking up the breather and fuel rail from custom chrome later today
, now all I need are some blue neons and some water jet light thingies.....or should I go straight for a Nova and have done with it!
word up

P.S.the oil filler cap sits flush to the rocker cover, no sign of an alternative way of topping the oil up other than using a funnel.

The early rocker covers had TVR cast into them and had a flush oil filler hole, which has the same diameter and thread as the oil breather flame trap on the opposite cover. A lot of the later engines had standard Land Rover rocker covers which have an extended oil filler neck. If I remember correctly this can be un-screwed and can be fitted to the earlier covers, if you so wish.
Thanks for the replies... from the pics I've seen, there are two holes (one on each), that seem to be rather smaller than the filer neck (or breather) on the ones fitted to my mill. Any idea how these are sealed if used for filling and breather etc (can't tell if they are threaded)? Thanks again.
I'm after some of these as well ..... if you are looking at the ones on ebay you will notice on closer inspection that they are both off side and not one of each ... shame, but the TVR logo on the originals is always towards the the front of the engine with the indent towards the plenum, however the ones one ebay can't possibly be fitted like this .... that's why the oil filler neck/fitting isn't on the near side one.
Took me a while to work out what the problem was. Wood for trees etc ....

Phil,
Is it really a flame trap?
Is the Land Rover jobbie metal so that I could get it blinged up?

Not entirely sure this is necessarily correct (although I'm not doubting what you say about the logos appearing to the front). The ebay ones would present the logos at opposing ends if the plenum cut-outs were facing BUT do have small holes that are not identically placed...these would face each other? I guess a previous user could have bored these? I dunno, well confused now
