Notice Period during probation.
Discussion
Started new job 31st March. 3 Months probationary period during which the company can get rid of me with a week's notice. Can't find any mention for my side other than having to give a month.
Basically they like me but I hate the job. My first PAYE job since 1997 (and last now!!). Not worried about a reference and it won't appear on my CV should I ever need one.
Other than the fact I'd like to be paid for working this month, is a month's notice about right this early into the role? I might offer to work a day a week (everything I'm currently doing I could cram into a day), but otherwise I need to escape!

Thanks PP. There's no HR. Small company basically three directors who work remotely. I met two during my interviews but not seen any since I started. There's also a guy whose job apparently is to tickle around the office eating the occasional apple. There seems to be a bit of a culture of doing sweet FA, but that's just not me.
or go see one of the Directors and tell them what is going on and that you cannot work that way. Could you offer to change the culture (as you are the new boy!) turn things around and weed out the chaff so as to speak. Could you affect the profitability, look to new areas and challenges.

They're all uncles, cousins and friends so difficult to change the culture as an outsider. I submit weekly reports about what I feel is needed to build momentum and I've started rebuilding some neglected business relationships. What they need though is an out and out salesman which just isn't me (although the BDM brought in ZERO before going off on long-term, paid, compassionate leave - another cousin).
I could easily keep my head down and get paid to do nothing, but I started on crap money intending to make an impact and then earn some sensible coin.
