Only just caught up with this, sorry if there is already a thread but surprised to see the Afghan Whigs "headlining" Was a big fan back in the 90's (Congregation being the best ever release on Sub Pop, IMO) and although Gregg Dulli looks, how shall we put it, different, his voice is still spot on. Good show all round I thought with no superstar band taking all the credit for the show.
I love Afghan Whigs...but don't even bother talking about them because no one ever seems to have heard of them, never mind like them!
I first heard Gentleman when it came out, and so this is probably my favourite album of theirs. Congregation and Up In It are both superb..as is Black Love! 1965 is good, but compared to the others, full of slowish songs, instead of the usual mix.
I'm off to see them again in July. I saw again, this will only be the third time that I have!
Greg's looked like that for a while, having seen him over the years performing in The Twilight Singers. Worth giving them a listen if you haven't already.
