Cannot use the back button on PH pages

Having an issue every so often where I cannot use the back button, I click it and nothing happens.
Right clicking on it reveals this



I assume something to do with all the adverts you inflict on us?

I read that but given there's no solution offered (except "change your browser" which isn't something I want to do) I thought that another thread was justified.

Actually a Windows update seemed to fix the issue, possibly, maybe or could have just been a coincidence. Either way are you up to date with updates?

It comes and goes for me (Vista + IE9), the back button simply stops working. It is very annoying & IMO definitely associated with banner ads.

Try using Chrome, it gives a much better browsing experience than IE, apparently it's something to do with updates and Chrome doing it automatically. I'd always used IE until a few years ago when I tried Firefox, I wouldn't go back to IE now, it seems so buggy.

Plenty here who are unable to simply change their browser. Wouldn't it be better to fix the problem?

Would love to fix this issue, but we can't replicate it here in PH Towers so very hard to fix if we can't see it ourselves.

Also as said above I think it is related to some of the ads being served across the site - across an inventory of multi 10s of thousands of ads it is hard to narrow which one it is - though if anyone suffering from this can take a note of the ads on the site at the time we can have a go at trying to narrow it down (as some of these are backfill ads - a way of serving up ad inventory if all campaigns have run their limits - then it will be very hard to find it)

or something similar. Not sure if that helps at all. A randomized banner ad, presumably, that is being seen by the browser as the last page visited.

Yep, it's a problem.

It's also a VERY BIG problem for people browsing on office PC's as all those advert connection get logged as separate visits to websites.
And some of the websites aren't especially work friendly.

Oh, and on phones it eats the web usage MBS too.

If you use the mobile beta skin, then there are no ads when viewing on a phone.

I'd say they're legitimate content to be logged by your corporate filter. - after all, the ads are being displayed on your PC.

One of the Win7 updates seemingly cured the problem, did not [knocks on digital wood] have it since.
