Just a general question to satisfy my curiosity more than anything. I had a blast in a C63 AMG Estate last week and now I want one - quelle surprise. Thing is I usually hold onto my cars for 4-5 years and I'm not sure I would keep the C63 that long as at some point the novelty wears thin and eventually the cost of running one comes more and more to to the fore until the cons overtake the pros. That could be six months to six years depending on your circumstances and attention threshold! So the Q is this, if you have a C63 how long have you had it for and how long do you plan on keeping it? Cheers!

Had mine 18 months, with it going back in 6.

It's a great car to have, and as an estate would probably have more kudos. The worrying thing for me with a car of this type is when it goes out of warranty, hence my reluctance to keep it any longer.

That said, I've enjoyed every minute of having the car, and I'm sure you will too, it's practical, powerful, and is as passive as a normal C class if required, and a brutal machine when not.

Pull the trigger, and see how you feel after a year.

It's a tricky one as I'd need to finance the bugger although I tend to put a lot into it to reduce monthly payments and buy it outright at the end, the same as I've just done with my current car. To be honest the hideous APR on a used car is likely to put me off, I just can't quite swallow 10.4% from MB. Anyway, details. Epic car and unforgettable ownership I'll wager?!

Bought mine outright 18 months ago (albeit 2nd hand) and just cant imagine life without it.
Every morning when i start it and get that growl from the exhaust i smile, and every time i squeeze the throttle and get pinned back in the seat i giggle like a child (mine has been tuned slightly which adds to the fun).

I have asked myself what would i have next.......and still cant think what it would be.

I cant imagine there will ever be a 6.3 V8 again due to the EU politics, so if you can do it, grab it with both hands while you can.

Mentioned above is the dark area of owning one outside of the warranty period. My response:

There's not much to worry about with the C63. Having come from a nervous 5 years in a C5 RS6 Avant and E61 M5 Touring I can assure you that the C63 is pretty much worry free, even compared to normal road cars. Other than the early engines (58 and earlier) the engine and gearbox is pretty damn reliable. Outside of that its just normal running costs. Not that pricey to service either.

Im planning on keeping mine for the foreseeable future, certainly 4 years until the sprog goes off to uni. Haggle hard on the APR with MB, they have loads of movement from 10.4%.

Just to give you a heads-up, but my car is already worth less than the balloon payment despite being 4 months and 9k miles off the GFV value.

Try to come to an agreement to effectively return and buy it back off them. I did this with Audi a few years back and saved 4k, worked out better than returning and then sourcing another car of the same spec. coffee
