I need to buy lots of Euros for reasons that are my own. It occurs to me that the high street like Travelex may not be the source of the best available rates. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good place to exchange?

Thanks very much!

My advice would be to use transferwise. Best rates I've found due to them operating a peer to peer model. I have a Euro account and transfer often.
PM me if you want a link for a free transfer

Thanks very much but I need a cash exchange rather than sending money abroad.

High street rates are not good ( airports are awful ) but if you book online with Travelex or the big supermarkets you get a much better rate.

You can then go and pickup in-store or have the money delivered.

Last time I used Travelex the online rate was 1.18 but the instore rate was 1.08.

Lots of comparison sites show you where is cheapest.

I have recently bought Euros from Moneycorp (http://www.moneycorp.com/uk/).

Order online, they send out next day delivery free of charge for orders over £500.

Not bad I thought!

Depends on where you live. If you are in a big city the independent bureau de change kiosks near stations and tourist attractions are usually the most competitive. I used to work in London near the British Museum. There was big Post Office with a Travelex counter in our block. If the Travelex rate was 1.12 then across the road I could get 1.19 from the scruffy place on the corner with even better rates for £500 or more.

Post office, supermarkets and travelex are all very good provided you book online and poor if you walk-in.

Travelex will courier it to your door free of charge if you order a certain amount
