Never knew this thing existed until I investigated emulating Amiga games.

Seems that the Ouya is great for Emulation? Custom emulation apps have been developed for all the old systems and Roms seem to be readily downloadable from the internet. So for someone that doesn't want to mess around setting these things up it appears to be a plug and play solution and fairly idiot proof.

Plus I can play on a nice 50' telly as opposed to the old days hunched over a 13' CRT!

Interested to know if anyone has got one - and has anyone run any emulators on it?

Thanks

Yes, and I've run PS1 and N64 emulators on it. Both work, and you can tweak the graphics with the app and android settings for resolution, Open GL etc. Mario 64 and Kart on N64 was an odd mix of very pixelly sprites with 1080p 3d vectors hehe .

Also have one here. Bought it purely for the emulator use. Easily run SNES, N64, NES and Megadrive emulators, with 3 controllers (1 original Ouya, and 2 PS3 controllers).

Very good for it though. A few mates have since bought them after seeing mine.

Thanks chaps! I think I am going to take the plunge!

It seems it also does ScummVM so I can play the old Lucas Arts titles as well! I never did finish Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis!

I also have unfinished business with Pilot Wings and Mario 64! biggrin

So I bought one today and have all the usual emulators working pretty well. And then the Ouya servers all died killing the console completely so not only couldn't I find new content the stuff I'd already downloaded, including the ROMs I put on myself all stopped working.

Not impressed.

Has this been fixed as thinking of getting one? Also are they really idiot proof to get working as I do a pretty good job of being an idiot with tech.

It's a lot of dicking about if you want to use it for emulation but the stuff out the box is simple enough. XBMC is a nice addition but again it's a lot of faffing to get it working how I want.

Offline seems to be working fine as I just unplugged the ethernet to test it out.

I'd say it's worth looking at but it very much depends on what you expect vs what you need it to do so expect to research and put some hours in to get it all running right.

PM me if you need any help.
