Well the 1978 TVR 3000M has had starting ignition problem solved thanks for all yr advice, oil pressure tube needs re- sitting now as the brown stuff was trickling out from behind the radio and as they had dash off for a rewire i reckon its not been put back properly...so back to the garage again its a question next of tackling more minor jobs now i can maybe do myself .

My latest query for you experts to hopefully advise concerns the jammed passenger window you can wind it down in mine but not up, chap at Basford garage says mechanisms are from mk2 cortina's and i noticed just now one on flea bay for about twelve quid inc postage which seems reasonable...but decided to put "tvr/ window winding mechanism" into google and came of a couple of q/a sites that said tvr used mgb ones in fact which were modified ?

If anyone knows the correct answer that would be great(I had to close window by taking of all trim and with thick gardening gloves on slowly but surely prised it all up again...thank goodness for sunroofs !)

Cheers chaps

Early...Austin-Morris 1100/1300 rear door, OR late... Morris Ital rear door then modified.
Or refurbished exchange items these days.

I've recently had the driver's window out of mine for the same problem - which was caused by the bottom of the window frame breaking, nothing to do with the mechanism.

I thought they were modified MGB but I could have read that on the sites you did.

I wouldn't spend any money until you've checked what the problem actually is. Happy to have a look under the door trim. It's easy to spot if the frame is broken.

Edit - aha, the guru provides the answer!

Thanks both, appreciated. Gadge as you live in Nottm near me when i get car back will pop round in it as wd value yr opinion on whether its the mechanism or window itself.(also an excuse to blast it down the ring road!)

If you haven't already, renew the channel seals in the aluminium window frames, what the glass slides in.
These make a massive difference to how the windows lift and also reduce noise and rattle..
Adrian or Steve are your best source of parts for these cars really!
