Turns out my Sat nav unit's DVD player will no longer read DVD's.
'OEM' (well - Volvo) unit from AM is £1600! Could probably get the laser repaired on the existing one, but is anyone aware of any clever aftermarket options, especially ones that could use the existing screen?
