We still hear of CCM equipped cars (Astons and others) suffering from steering wheel vibes resulting from imprecisely balanced CCM front rotors. Apparently, Brembo must have decided that their regular manufacturing processes were not sufficiently robust to assure balanced rotors, so they have taken this approach, at least for the ZR1.

If Aston used such a set up, then the rotors could be balanced without resorting to the SB wherein the wheels are balanced to compensate. I'm sure some top notch machinist could drill/tap similar holes for our discs and then they could be balanced as shown.

Incidentally, I expect the ZR1 rotors might be usable instead of the AM version, if the hats were swapped. They sell for something like $1400 each, considerably less than what Aston charge. Hopefully won't ever have to find out, however.
