SL55 battery fault light????
Discussion
I laid my Sl55 up over winter, starting it periodically and getting the familiar consumers offline message which would disappear after running the car for a while. When I started the car to take it for a run the other week the consumers offline message didn't go off and a red battery symbol and visit workshop message appeared on the dash. I removed the battery and attempted to charge it on my ctek charger but the charger could not take battery through the charge cycle, the error led was illuminated. So I fitted a new agm consumer battery. The consumers offline massage has gone but the battery and visit workshop warnings are still present. Could it be that the fault report is residual and just needs resetting or something more sinister???
you say you replaced the aux battery which I assume is the one in the boot. Its worth checking the starter battery under the bonnet as this may also be in a poor state of charge causing the warning message to still be displayed due to the fact that the battery control module has detected a weak battery & is trying to recharge the battery to a good state of charge.
If both battery's are ok then as you say try getting the fault memories read & reset.
Worse case scenario is that it could have a faulty battery control module (Bcm) which is located in boot on righthand side wheel arch behind trim panel. I've known a couple of these burn out which is usually detected by no communication during a diagnostic test & a bad burnt smell in boot plus a red warning message on dash. Hopefully this isn't your problem.
