Modded A5 3.0 TDI vs 600cc Sports Bike
Discussion
A work colleague has an Audi A5 3.0TDI quattro with the DPF removed and a remap, he reckons on it now having upto 300BHP. He thinks that a 600cc sports bike wont keep up with him once they're past 60mph.
I beg to differ.
He also thinks his car is faster than an E60 M5 and AMG C63 because it has more 'torques'. Surely the 'M' and AMG division would be using diesels in their halo cars
What does the PH massive reckon?

That 3.0 Diesel lump is pretty impressive in standard form - 240bhp and a 0-60 time of around 6 seconds - only the S4 and RS4 have better numbers
I would imagine if it is running 300bhp it would feel invincible to the driver due to all that power arriving at once but i'm not sure about his claim.

Actually, reminds me of my mates 320D bmw, i had driven it a few times with him in it and remember thinking 'wow, this is pretty darn fast, can't wait to take it out on my own so i can get a proper feel for it'
With my mate by my side i used to make progress with that lovely surge of diesel power but then change gear quite early so not to thrash it while he was in the car.
When i finally got to go out in it on my own i discovered that the surge that hinted to amazing performance was actually it. there was no more. Doh. What a disappointment!

Not a chance. Everyone seems to think that because 600's aren't as fast as 1000's they are slow. They aren't slow at all and will still make a lot of cars look like they are standing still.
And ultimately, the bloke on the motorbike will be having fun and the other will be driving a diesel Audi.Baryonyx said:

He's a bit delusional.

Says the man in a pug107?To qualify, I did a lot of miles in a diesel 3-er and have nothing good to say about those times. My 600; well, every journey is fun

I think you should encourage this into a drag race, and take a video while you're at it.
This clip on youtube showing a 600cc bike keeping up with, then overtaking, a C63 on an autobahn was dismissed as 'the Merc driver probably wasn't trying!' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXgMz_xZFwM

Couldn't agree more.My rough old ZZR600 sports tourer would do sub 12 second standing quarter mile, and sub 4 second 0-60 times.
And that's with 20+ year old engine technology and a serious obesity issue relative to modern bikes.
To be fair, the 3.0 Audi's are bloody quick. Me and a colleague hired a new 320d earlier in the year and tested it up 'the hill' (basically a quarter-mile hill with a crawler lane which everybody 'auto-tests' their car up, on the A602...).
Pedal to the floor in the BMW and the Audi A5 just came flying up behind us like we were barely moving. Seriously impressive!
But a motorbike....no chance. You can't really compare bikes to cars until you're talking modified GT-Rs and upwards. Certainly not a diesel!
