1999 MGF project or sell

Hope you guys can help, I'm tempted by a 1.8 VVC in black with black leather, supercharged by Turbo Technics, 78k runner, no MOT been idle since 2010. Looks mint, has had new lights fitted at £300 a pop and engine rebuilt.

Is it gonna be worth it at £500. Things it'll obviously need are tyres, rear screen, brake discs and fluids

You would probably get close to £500 if you sell it for parts - the hydragas spheres alone are prob worth £150 for the set.

ok, sounds viable, might bung a set of Nankings on it and see what an MOT chucks up, trouble is I don't have the time or tools for anything other than minor titivation so paying for work just isn't an option. Those interested may just get a call

You don't really want st tyres on a mid-engined car - that can come back to bite you very hard. Kumhos would be ok, but not cheap as chips chinese stuff.

you're quite right, however I was talking about making it into a road legal proposition, but after finding it has had new 16" wheels, an oil cooler added and con rods changed for the sc, never had an HGF, upgraded brakes and a set of spare cooling pipes from rad to engine, I will have to reconsider,

Nice cobwebs and mildew!

It will need a suspension pump-up before you drive it very far - distance from wheel centre cap to wheel-arch should be something like 365mm - that one is close to fouling the wheel-arch; pump-up's a £50 job.

Rust around the air intakes is quite common and should be easy-ish to deal with. Might be worth getting on one of the MGF forums to see if anyone knows its history and whether anyone knows anything about the Turbo Technics conversion - it's not a common mod afaik. This is a good forum

Turbo? Go for it... Don't skimp on the tyres - even a non-VVC 1.8 is tail happy when pushed.

fired it up last night, makes a nice bark with the ss pipes, absolutely nothing from the tail pies and all electrics work as they should
