Remapping our Golf GTI DSG mk V - where to go?
Discussion
Hi,
We've recently bought a Golf GTI DSG and we'd like to have it remapped. We have a local German car specialist (Kartechnic) who have given me a price, they say the design the map themselves and to expect a 45hp and 75nm increase.
I used to take my Audis to MRC Tuning, but there's a few things stopping me from going back, 1. they're too far away, 2. they're too expensive, 3. they don't reply to my emails!!
Any other recommendations or words of advice before we go ahead at Kartechnic?
Thanks,
Dan

APS in Brackley are rather good too: http://www.autops.co.uk/index.asp
I did exactly this just over a year ago and it transformed the car. It no longer runs out of puff above 5000rpm and pulls hard throughout the rev range.
Go and see Nick at R-Tech. Your car will be mapped live on the dyno and not just given a stock reflash with generic software. If there anre any issues Nick will point these out. You may require a new diverter valve (dump valve) if you are still on the original as they can leak but he stocks these at £35.
Anyway for £300 the net result on my car was 251bhp and 289lb/ft. Apart from the remap it is completely stock. Hope that this helps.

I've got a MK5 DSG and was warned against remapping due to possible gearbox problems. I was told the manuals are ok though?
Really? Who advised this? The 6 speed DSG (which you have) can handle far more torque than the GTI outputs as standard.

Does the car have any other mods? air filter / exhaust etc?
do you plan on adding any of these?
custom map if you have any modifications
generic map if the car is standard.
have you looked at bluefin ? - you can add/remove map yourself then
Increase 41 bhp + 54 nm
clicky
Probably not, would most likely keep it standard other than the remap. do you plan on adding any of these?

Bluefin might be the way forward then - delivered to your door, made by superchips which is the maps most of these use anyway and reversible anytime you want.
Plus - a cool looking gadget
