So, in an effort to reduce the amount of coffee i drink, and not enjoying decaff, i have been looking for some nice teas - stuff like Lemon, Lime, Ginger, Lemon grass.

I'm sluuuuurping on a Twinings Ginger and Lime brew at the moment. Its nice but it doesn't pack much of a punch.

Can anyone suggest something with more flavor/kick?

Twinings caramelised apple, lemon and ginger and clipper apple and ginger are all in the healthy drawer at work. The first is particularly nice

PG tips

twinings breakfast tea.

or, get some good (but expensive) loose white tea leaves and brew it the proper way, without the paper bags.

Mobile chicane will hopefully be along to help with some guidance as I have only had a couple of different loose leave teas like oolong and oolong milk and liked them both.

Personally I don't think Twinings herbal teas are all that: mostly they taste like wet hay once the (sprayed on) flavour has evaporated.

Try using two bags. wink Or slicing up a chilli and adding that.

At the risk of opening a huge can of worms can I ask why you don't enjoy decaf? I flit between normal coffee and decaf depending on time of day or how much caffeine I've already had and, as a mid-level coffee snob, I can't really say one is better or worse than the other taste-wise.

I can't really describe it, it just tastes different and definitely smells odd. Another minor factor is the process and chemicals used to remove the caffeine - IIRC some have been linked with cancer

I agree its not the best and i had no idea its sprayed on flavour. I have tried using a used bag with a new one for an extra hit and even added my own ginger...

Maybe i'll just have to make my own infusion!

Dear S,

Tesco's own brand ginger & lemon is a little more vibrant. I've seen but can't recall where Strong or Kicking or other exhortation in the title of a ginger tea. When I see it I'll try some. I have ginger tea as I find it calming of diverticular disease (of the loose kind!).

Have you tried Lavazza decaf ground coffee?

regards,
Jet

I use a slice of lemon or ginger and just add hot water, also works with fennel.

Just tried making my own with fresh ginger, lime, lemon, lemon grass and chilli. Jesus Christ. I must have gone over board - its not got a kick, its got a punch in the face. Oh and it smelt like i was making a Thai curry.
