E63 M6 High Speed Tyre Pressures ?

Taking the M6 to Germany next weekend, any input on tyre pressures for potential prolonged high(er) speed?

BMW advise increasing tyre pressure for high speed running. I believe the main reason is to reduce heating due to the tyre wall flexing. The increase can be as much as 25% over normal.

Mine are on 34psi all around at the moment. Previously they had 36 rear and 34 front before the monitor got over-sensitive and told me I had a flat tyre

They are big tyres but what is safest? 40 Psi?

There's no mention of that in my E60/E61 owner's manual - was this for the E39?

I would follow the pressures on the door jamb and no higher.

Just returned from a long weekend in Germany.

Opted for 38psi front, and 43 psi rear, which felt nice and stable. Had a few good runs north of 130mph, and one close to 170, and checked the pressure after and they had not moved.

Reduced them to 35/40 for the Ring, and really impressed with the new Michelin PSS tyres.

Are these cold tyre PSI readings? They sound a little high, get some heat in the tyres and they will be far north of 40 PSI.

I personally run mine at around 34 and never found that to be a problem on high speed running.
