Was certainly good fun - you can see the benefits of a proper motorsport ABS system quite clearly!

That had me on the edge of my seat. Great fun.
Was your gearing too short for a couple of the bends? It looked like there was a bit more space for accelerating but it would have meant changing up and then down again for the bend, so probably losing any advantage.
Well done. Post some more videos whenever you get the chance.

Doesn't that windshield wiper bouncing around in the center of your view piss you off?

People slag them off for being poseurs equipment but you have to admire the tech that goes into them; awesome and obviously well pedalled.
The shear relentlessness of that pursuit was enough to fry his tires alone, both cars on the limit and the lighter (I'm fairly sure) able to preserve grip beyond that of the more technically advanced machinery, I bet it felt really good seeing that car squirming on molten rubber and having to give best!

It's interesting as it took us a few laps to catch them as it takes us longer to get heat into the tyres due to the reduced amount of aero on the Ultima - but as you can see it comes on a few laps later. Calum Lockie was at the wheel of the Ferrari at that point which is why every trick in the book was coming out!

It's good to see that although the pace of the competition has increased significantly (at Silverstone GP they are 10 seconds per lap quicker now than when we started a few years ago!) the developments that we have made to the car have allowed us to be closer than ever before. Shouldn't be too long...

I love that gearbox smile

What do you think you has made the biggest single improvement Jonny?

Calum Lockie is no slouch, endurance and GT championship winner, so you and the Ultima were truly tested, respect!

So do we!

That's a tough question, but would have to be down to two things:

1. our own wishbones and uprights - not only has it improved reliability but it has also improved mechanical grip significantly

2. stiffening the chassis - it has a very long way to go but it has had a noticeable effect so far - especially at a track like Donington which is fast and undulating

Not really - the gearshift is very slick, but the issue is that it is tricky to corner hard one handed whilst changing gear when 'on the edge'.

this is where EPS would have come in handy...

or perhaps a paddle shift system...

Jonny,

very nice.
Can you share some infos about your suspension and chassis mods
or don´t you like to do that on a puplic forum?

Do you offer the parts?

Michael

Paddle shift certainly! EPS will lose steering feel which is one of the great benefits of the Ultima. We have modified the front suspension to lighten up the steering as well as improve mechanical grip and this has had a huge benefit to driveability and performance.

We would rather not share on a public forum for various reasons not least due to the advertising rules - but as mentioned above we have redeveloped the suspension to suit hard race use, with the ride height we run and the much bigger forces on the car due to much greater aero and slicks. If you PM I can give you further details - parts are available.

looks fantastic guys and we are all waving you on for the wins.

yes paddle shift looks certainly to be a benifit as there is a few times hand on the wheel would help

great entry speed out of the corners and then past on the straight is not just down to hp, but grip, its the brakes i feel you need attention. the 458 on a few high speed straights out braked you, so i suppose he either has carbon brakes or more weight on the front so he doesnt lock up.

can yours be upgraded?

It does look like it doesn't it! I think its probably a bit deceptive due to the wide lens - the brakes on our upgraded setup are superb. I was simply being a touch cautious as it was the early stages. If anything we need a little more springrate to keep things under control. Interesting to watch through teh louvres in the arches!

Great to see the car performing well Jonny, and I bet you enjoyed that overtake....

When are you next racing and where? If I can get there I would love to come and watch.
