Corsa SRi Turbo
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Just cleaned and polished my car tonight and just fancied showing it off
. It's a Corsa SRi Turbo which they sold from 57-09 plate, with the exact same 1.6T engine, drive train, brakes and suspension as a VXR Corsa. The only difference being obviously the trim, and that it was detuned to 150hp from the factory, rather than 189hp. I presume people soon caught on though and bought them instead of the pricier VXRs and tuned them to VXR spec anyway, so they stopped selling them.
This one has been remapped with a Superchips Bluefin unit which takes the grossly detuned engine up to approx 200hp with no other mods. It hasn't been dyno'd yet, but it will be soon.
Future modifications I have planned are purely performance based: uprated injectors, turbo back exhaust with sports cat, bigger intercooler, and a remap again. This should see it in the region of around 250hp which would be more than ample! Even now, it's a fun little sleeper!

Although I do love the black grille and wheels, I sometimes wish they were both still silver for extra stealth!
I once accelerated briskly pulling onto a long empty dual carriageway straight off of a roundabout, alongside a Corsa VXR Nurburgring (the most powerful version, rated at circa. 205hp) in the outside lane doing a similar thing; both cars seemed unable to pull away from one another.
I ended up chatting to the guy driving said VXR a few days later when I pulled into the local Vauxhall dealership to purchase some parts and he wandered over to the car, asking questions and chatting away, before introducing himself as "the guy in the VXR the other night". He turned out to be the owner of the place, who had taken a demo car out for a run! He seemed friendly enough talking to me, and even said what you have all said "I thought it was a 1.2!" However, after speaking to the guy working behind the parts desk, he was apparently most upset about the whole thing and came back to the dealership in a fowl mood, demanding to know how a standard Corsa could keep up with a Nurburgring!

looks like a nice car very tidy
Just putting my grumpy hat on, just be careful how much you spend on this one upgrading it, before you know it you may well spend a small fortune and then wish you hadnt
Enjoy it
Thanks very much! I know what you mean, the cost of "Stage 3" (the mods I've listed) comes in at just under £2,000. Just putting my grumpy hat on, just be careful how much you spend on this one upgrading it, before you know it you may well spend a small fortune and then wish you hadnt

However, considering the car was £5,500 to buy, adding on that cost it is near or slightly less than I would've paid for a VXR. I'll no doubt just upgrade to another car though instead
