As in the title really. Due to the slip road there being short and peoples inability to use the pedal under the right foot there is a proposal that this section of A64 will be 50 MPH on both sides.

A classic example of trying to solve the problem the wrong way. Luckily the Highways lot don't seem impressed:

Says about road resurfacing in the link. Nothing wrong with the surface there - in fact iirc it is one of those semi-abrasive anti-skid coatings anyway so perfectly fine. The problem is people blundering along the slip roads at 30mph and just pulling out when their road runs out. Leave it as it is and make people learn how to drive for themselves. Unless it's the middle of the night you struggle to do much more than 50 along that stretch anyway due to everyone else dithering about. rolleyes

FFS - what a complete waste of time and money. Yeah the road is dangerous and not the complete and utter fkwits that drive on it.

A few weeks ago I sat behind a complete nob in the outside lane from the A1 to Tadcaster at 50mph and we were the only two cars on the road. I refuse to undertake.

That bendy section should be raised to 100mph as it could be fun, but of course generally the moronic drive along there in the outside lane at 50pmh so it wouldn't be possible.

I trundle down there once a week or so at 50mph in the work vehicle... The dithering idiots still can't get up to 50 mph and pull out in front of me!

So, it'll not make the slightest bit of difference - In fact, it will make it worse as there will be a train of cars in the inside lane doing 43 mph as everyone's scared of getting caught 'speeding'. So less and less chance of them joining.

It just makes you want to scream tbh.
