Picking up my F Type Coupe today. Gone for already specced showroom model that has standard V6 exhaust. Is it possible to replace exhaust with V6S version? I have asked the dealer but been told that they cannot do it as it will effect warrenty.

Can't see why it would affect the warranty?

It would be a genuine part so I can't see why it would void the warranty, even Porsche let you retro fit a genuine Porsche sports exhaust.I guess availability is the main factor, it may not be available for retro fit, would you also want the loud button fitted in the cabin?

Just wanted to swap for standard V6S exhaust. Asked the dealer to see if it could be fitted through parts and service department and was told no it would effect warranty. May ask another dealer tomorrow.

I "think" it might be because the V6S exhaust has opening baffles etc which are controlled by the ECU.

could be totally wrong of course.

It was on the options list with the standard V6 so cannot see why it cannot be swapped. May need a ECU reflash but easier to just leave the baffles open without any mdification and you get the exhaust sound all the time.

Unfortunately you've come across the Jaguar (& now LR) policy that if it wasn't built that way it won't be covered by the warranty, standard parts fitment or not. Even if you flash the ECU it will be noticed as each car has comprehensive, individual build spec. If you do it yourself that will invalidate warranty and not only in respect to the exhaust! Bummer!!

Most manufacturers now have 3 levels of options on new cars
1. Factory build fit (warranty covered)
2. Dealer fitted factory options (warranty covered), these are restricted
3. Dealer fit options (may/ may not be warranty), but normally nothing major.

Some manufacturers now really won't allow post manufacturer option additions as factory fit wiring looms were not orginally configured for extra options.
