It's a nice departure from the usual 911 articles, and written by an enthusiast which is a bonus.

I have to admit though, most car mags now days don't really seem to be anything much. I used to read a few, but now I don't bother.

I know what you mean. I used to buy fairly regularly when they contained something interesting, mostly Motor Sport, Motor, Autocar or Car, then a new batch came along, Sporting Cars, Fast Lane, Performance Cars. Still have them, some dating back to the 70's but only bought a handful since the turn of the century. Last one I can find is an edition of Car with an Aston DBS review from 2009.

Havnt been able to get a copy yet, but Englishman I know exactly what you mean re back in time ( the 60s and 70s when nothing came near the then almost perfect Motorsport magazine. Bill Body and Jenks were just head and shoulders above the opposition.
Motor circa 1973 and 74 was also a fantastic read.

I bought Sporting Cars in the 80s too, was a good mag.

Car was THE BEST.

Proper articles by LJK Setright, Russell Bulgin, Mel Nicols, Ian Fraser, George Bishop etc. I used to buy it on my way home from school and the 6th form ('70s mostly) and my mates used to ask me "Why do you buy that there's too much writing and not enough pictures....." That said the photography was excellent and ground breaking but the writing dominated.

These days though it seems to me it's ALL about the photography which while it's good you rarely get the in-depth analysis you used to. Although I have to say I still get Motorsport every month which has some great interviews.

But... Does Any one remember the Original " Fast Car" magazine ??
It ran for I believe only 18 odd months during 1973 and 74. Graham Hill had a column and it featured some great cars, including a Bat 3.0CSL.
I think I still have 2 copies, both of them bought for me by my Late Ghibli driving Dad. But as a Corvette Stingray mad kid ( 17 years later I managed to buy a 69 Stingray ) I can still recall the issue that has left a lasting impression on me, it had circa 69 Big Block 427 Stingray on the front cover. I took it into school with me and someone swiped it !
If anyone has any copies of Fast Car mag that they don't want, please pm me !

And yes, CAR was a great mag and LJK Setwright was one of the best.

Are we talking about the June issue? Unable to find it in my newsagent, I rode round to several others until I found one. Had a flick through in advance of buying and couldn't find anything about the Sagaris apart from about an inch near the bottom of one of the pages. Is there another issue?

No, it's a 3-4 page article. I think I remember thinking 'July issue? Madenss!!'

Yep July issue No 197, as they now do 13 issues each year I am wondering what the 13th issue of the year will be called.

Car was a really good mag in its day , but when EVO arrived IT was a cut above any other that went before. Not the same now, but still has good articles. Going back to Car, I put my early 70 s collection on eBay a few years ago and sold to a buyer in Austrailer. He only wanted one copy that was in my lot ! Do you remember the Ban the B cut out that you put on the window of your car, the B stood for Barbara Castle, not sure what she did, but could have the 70 mph limit? . Any article on TVR in today press is good news, so well done EVO.

I couldn't find the feature in the Evo that I looked through either ! Big feature on the Skyline ( yawn ) but no Sag article. Sainsburys must be lagging behind.....

I think it's a good article, brings the Sag back into the public domain.

Having been to a few car shows recently, helping with surveys on cars referring to them by name, it's amazing how quickly the gen public forgets what a car is unless it's in the news.... unless they're a committed (committable?) petrolhead like us silly

Read the article in WHS on Waterloo station tonight - nice to see the passion the Sag still generates in a journalist and, as the previous poster said, keeps it in the publics eye which has to be a good thing. Still looks fresh today IMHO.

At ruddy last, I Finally managed to read it in Sains this morn ( July ? issue ) and yes, fantastic that the Sag has a feature of its own, but surely driving one through London isn't the ideal place to sample one ??

And over 400 horse power pulling just 1,100 KGs didn't really impress......
