These "hypercars" have re-ignited my enthusiasm for this type of vehicle. The Veyron was an impressive (if heavy-handed) piece of engineering and I actually think it's a nice looking car but I've never had a burning desire to own or even drive one. These three may not be faster but I think that they have finally "moved the game on" in terms of engineering (it has only taken nearly 10 years)! Still a bit of a pointless ownership proposition though, as I think too fast and valuable to drive on the road unless you have your own private race track or live out in the desert with long, straight paved roads!

So, if you had the opportunity to drive just one of these "hypercars", which one would it be? It's a no-brainer for me. I like Porsches and Ferraris but they're also a bit like electrical goods! You think you've bought the fastest and the best and then they bring something out faster and better! The 918 does nothing for me to look at (would prefer to own a 959, GT2 RS or CGT if I wanted a superfast Porsche) and although the NA V12 in the Ferrari certainly appeals, I think it's far from the best-looking Ferrari ever made.

No, the P1 would be the one for me. Not beautiful but very agressive and wouldn't look out of pace as the next Batmobile! Having watched the videos, the thunderous V8, chuffing turbos and blue flames spitting out the exhaust certainly do it for me. It certainly has the presence and character that the 12C seems to lack. Still not sure if it would earn a place in my fantasy garage next to the McLaren F1 and Lexus LF-A though!

Having just read the LAF review in this months Evo it would have to be that. Meaden said it might be the best Ferrari ever.

None of them get me excited.
I know i will never be able to afford one. Even if i could, there are so many other cars id buy first.
A veyron excites me, but i know i wont be able to afford one.
I just cannot pin point why.
Id also like a prius because the tech is interesting.
So a priron should be my ideal car, right? I dont get it.
Im confused.

Laffer for me, the most analogue of the group, it's got a NA V12 and sounds amazing. 918 looks like a Carrera GT and obsessed with phoney eco awareness and the P1 is a droopy arsed melted lump of plastic that reminds me of Ron Dennis' sad face when they've failed to score any points at a Grand Prix. They're all fantastic cars so I think it comes down to how how you feel about each car and the brand etc. I love Ferraris so it couldn't be anything else.

P1.

ETA. No wait, the 918.

Hang on, the P1.

Mmmm, maybe the 918....

I'd have to flip a coin for it I think.

P1 out of those 3 but a Zonda R derivative I would prefer

I don't particularly like any of them but I'd probably choose the LAF - even though it is absolutely hideous.

Never having got behind the wheel of an F1 I would discount the P1.

I have however driven a 959, F40, 288 GTO and, briefly, an F50 so it would be a choice between the 918 & the LaFerrari.

I think the LaFerrari would be my choice although I would have to wangle an 918 a some stage just to compare the two cars.
