I noticed that the paper is wrong by saying they will be banning all devices that emit radar



Dont know anyone with radar emmitors. Personally I have one that emits light...

So same as before - when targetted, check speed, SWITCH OFF, let them get reading, everyone is happy

Hang on don't gatso's emit radar? Are they to be banned then? I see that once again the road "safety" see this as a good idea. What reducing 7% if deaths? Why is drink driving also now always lumped with speeding? I also see the penalty for "Failing to identify driver" is to go up to 6 points.

"Failing to identify driver" is a crime, and now more serious than speeding!

Old saw, I know, but "right not to incriminate yourself" clearly doesn't apply to taxees, sorry, "motorists". To scumbags and all other classes of criminal, yes, but not to those despicable motorists!

But what will the penalty be for using a laser jammer?
Obviously you can't ban a GPS based camera location device as the information is already in the public domain, and the camera Pratnerships publish locations anyway in many cases.
Of more concern should be the failure to identify. It means that if someone genuinly does not know, they will really have to name someone to avoid risking a 6-pointer rather than just 3. This is a bloody disgrace and something we should really fight as strongly as possible. This really is demanding a confession under duress, there is no other way of looking at it.

Yes there is.
But there is no law against registering a new limited company for £100, appointing another limited company as company secretary with a P.O. Box number and then ensuring that any and all NIP's are completely ignored. Then register any and all your vehicles to the limited company and bob's your uncle.
There are lots of other countermeasures you can take.
It has to be said that anyone who gets banned solely by cameras under totting-up has not taken the necessary measures soon enough.
For example, all my cars are registered to a non-trading limited company. If we got an NIP we would respond requesting more details, but only after we ignored the first NIP. Eventually the Old Bill would run out of time and/or interest. Then, if necesary, we would place the company into liquidation, without any debts, and refer the CPS to the Registrar of Companies. If it came back to a former director, that directorwould no longer be entitled to hold company records and would have to refer the CPS to the accountants who would be holding all the company records on behalf of the former directors. The accountants would then quite rightly require a payment to investigate the records or would invite a representative of the CPS to attend at their offices to inspect the records, such as they may be. Thus reasonable steps would have been taken to identify the driver.
All this would take more than 6 months and the CPS would be out-of-time or out-of-interest.
Remember, all they want is the money.

Mmmmm. GPS won't be any good with the new rules regarding scamera van placement, which is the only reason they will be permitted.

You'd better not have a "combo" unit, with GPS & laser detection on board, or you'll need to prove the laser bit is deactivated.

There will be masses of new civvy vans, all with pro-laser.

This has really got to a bad state has it not? they want your money, real bad for them to bring in all this new legal stuff.

Funny - lowering limits hasn't worked. So maybe lowering them further is going to work??????

Maybe this is to pay for that little Iraq problem that Bliar poked our noses into?

I really do think we are so soft in this country. We all just let these changes happen without any form of protest by most of us.

I personally am getting to the end of my tether on the whole speeding issue. May need to start carrying a can of expanding foam about just in case

That stuff is an absolute pig to get off. I got some on my hands and it wouldnt come off for about a week! It still remained sticky all that time as well so any dirt stuck! I ended up looking like I had a coal miners hands!
