Minimum Shim size?
Discussion
Just about to commence service and check shims again. I have read on here before, but can't find, a minimum suggested shim size for AJP.
Anybody have any comment about minimum size, I know more than a few have suffered with broken shims?
Taking a look at my spreadsheet from last time my thinest one is 2.26mm or 88.6 thou.
Car has done over 70K so due a rebuild soon (Planning to pull the whole car to bits this winter).
Cheers,
Matt

Have recently changed clatter cams to whisper ones. The clearances all needed adjustment and had to fit thicker shims throughout.
Showing 43k on the speedo currently. When I measured the clearances before I took the clatters out, they had stayed consistent from when I last did the clearances a long time ago.
In my opinion the valve stems stretch to a certain point and then slow down or even stop stretching altogether. The inlets tend to stretch more I think.
Took a few attempts to get them spot on due to miscalculations, mostly from using imperial feeler gauges and a metric micrometer.
From memory, the smallest shim I removed with the clatters was 1.80. Had no issues and the shims were in perfect condition after many miles.
