Hi everyone, I was wondering what running temperature your nobs run at and what temprature your fans cut in at in the summer during normal driving, with occasional mad bursts of speed?

I ask as I was out this afternoon in my 10 and it was running at about 70deg bouncing regularly to 83, when the fan cuts in.

I get the impression it's running a little hot but obviously nothing to compare it against!

On the road mine runs around 80 cruising, in traffic it can get towards 90 and on track I have seen 105 with no problems. I don't think my fan comes in as low as 83.

Can't remember - 93 I think. Needle sits roughly at 12 o'clock all of the time and when hot and the fans kick in it moves only a few millis past that.

Interesting, thanks for your responses.
It's reassuring to know my engines not on the brink of meltdown.

worth mentioning the guage doesn't read accuratelly... after all the standard thermostat doesnt actually start to open till 93deg c and is fully open at 96deg c... if your running at a genuine 83deg c then nothing is going through your radiator....
So if you fans come on and your temp is readying below 93deg c and you have the standard stat then your guage is wrong and you cant trust it smile

Id also say 105deg c isnt safe on track, I had temps like this previously and spent a lot of time making small changes and now mine doesnt go near 100 deg c... I reconfigured my guage to read 100% true and fitted a lower thermostat that was specially made in the states in a group buy recently.

If you want to know your real temps you will need to temporarily fit thermocouples... I fitted 3 around the system so that I knew what was going on and that I was making progress in the right direction with each mod smile

Agreed, I generally stay out for 6-10 laps or when the temperature reaches 100, but that time I was having an enjoyable dice with a TVR and forgot the temperature. I eased off at once and checked for leaking steam as soon as I got back in but all was well. I haven't seen temperature that high since doing cooling mod and rear clam vents so it does work.

I think your right andygtt, I dont take my car on the track so its not subject to continuous hard driving and on the coooler winter days the fan never cuts in.

I am betting on the guage being inaccurate, as the characteristics of the heat/fan have always been the same and nothing over heated yet....apart from me!

You can fit a colder thermostat.
