I have taken the door trim off, taken the door handle off but can I buggery get the lock to release from the handle. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
I cant see any grub screws to undo, the only thing I can see just has a little dimple in it and there is no obvious way of turning it.

I bought a cheap central locking kit so I am planning on going to remote locking, i would just like the lock to work as a backup

Is the grub screw in the matte grey bit or the shiny bit? If it is in the shiny bit all I have there is a big hole where someone appears to have drilled the allen screw out.
If it is in the matte bit I dont have an allen key small enough.

I have also won the retard of the day award.
I went out to the garage to get an allen key and realised that I had closed the door when I put the car in the garage. The passenger door is locked and hard up against the wall of the garage anyway so thats a non starter.
The drivers door handle is on the kitchen table so is less than helpful. And to top it all off when I put the car in the garage I always put the lights on so I can judge where the front end is, for the first time ever I forgot to turn them off.

I am in the doghouse with the OH now as I made her slide her arm in the hole where the velcro is to pull the strut so I could get the roof off, she has a massive bruise on her arm now.

I did manage to do one thing right today though, I found the knob to manually raise my headlight, took the headlight out put a new pivot bolt in, replaced the headlight and it all works!

Sounds a day of fun...hehe....I think the grub screw is in the handle itself...Do you have barrels to go into them?...Or are you blanking them off and having the remote jobby?...Ziga

I have some barrels from a Granada that may fit when I can get the old ones out, if not I may have found some back door handles (so no locks), whichever way I go with the door locks I am 100% putting the remote locking in.

Door locks were from the wrong model of granada (oops) with a bit of hindsight it is mk1 granada/mk2escort locks you need...
My new plan is to replace the doorhandles with some rears (so no lock hole) then fit the remote locking.
I am undecided as to whether to fit the new locks I have, this would mean drilling a hole in the door.
The locks are this type

I have all the bits to fit them but the idea of drilling a 1 inch hole in the door is making me twitchy.

Well it has taken me all day, but I have working remote central locking biggrin
Just waiting for the new doorhandles to arrive, then a huge amount of tidying of the wiring, there is about 20feet of spare wire, the kit was to do either 2 or 4 doors so it has a load of "spare" wire and 2 spare solenoids.
Sat here with a slightly smug grin on my face now.

Andy...I did say that i could get you two locks with a key if you still wanted them...Or as said blank the holes off..In fact i have an idea..Can you measure the inner barrel Dia and the depth of the hole please..Don't do anything until you have given me those two measurements...Cheers...Ziga

The lock cylinder is 2cm across and 4cm deep, the only one I have access to is the one with the knackered allen screw so cant the internal measurement, the only measurement I can get is the external one.
I did reply to you about those other locks but when didnt get a reply I assumed they were no longer available.

Dont worry too much for the moment though zig, I have ordered some mk2 escort rear door handles, the are exactly the same as the handles we have fitted except there isnt a hole for the lock barrel, They look a bit better than blanking the hole off (IMO)
