I had this very catalogue, and indeed my brother embarrassingly still has the fat chance featured within it. which was what my thinking was around, however you may notice the bike in the catalogue has aero leavers, so i'm thinking that yours may be 2-3 years earlier...

The levers look the same to me: just the left hand hood is partially missing on the picture I posted.

So, I bought it today. It was an absolute steal.

New shwalbe marathon tyres
new chain
new cassette (8 speed)
new handlebar tape
new big ring
wheels have been replaced at some point, with the rear being a freehub
loads of life in the rims
no deep rust on the frame, only some slight stuff which will clean up
perfect size for me

£100!

FWIW, I had an early 80's Dawes and the graphics looked older - that font looks newer. Plus IIRC, a lot used to have sunburst effect paintjobs.
