Had the car mapped by Trevor about 8 months ago and made 380bhp and 418lbft. St u it on the rolling road today and made 330bhp. I know it's warm but that's a large drop. Also the intercooler even after 1 run was so hot you couldn't touch it!

The only thing I've done in that 8 months is move the air filters to the bulk head. The service is due so I'm doing that tomorrow so I think I'm going to move the drivers side filter back to the intercooler box so they both have the shortest run. I'm wondering if the hoses are collapsing slightly and making the turbos work harder!

Any other ideas?

Zoo,I had a chat this week with Jetstream this week as I'm going to have the filters moved to the bulkhead. They were of the opinion that there was no noticeable difference in the amount of cooling air that gets to them, and shouldn't change anything with regards to performance.
Was your car on the same same RR as previous, same temps etc,no wheel slippage etc?

No it was a different one. It was mapped at Trevor jaspers and this was at rs tuning in leeds. I understand some discrepancy but 50bhp is a lot.
Ideally I'd get the hard pipe kit but as I'm not then I want to get rid of the longest run of flexible hosing.

The other thing they mentioned is a boost leak and that could be creating the extra heat in the intercooler. I'm not sure though as you can usually hear a boost leak. I'll check all the pipes tomorrow though.

Were they both the same brand of Dyno? Different Dynos will read differently - the only way to really get comparable numbers is to use the same Dyno for all of your runs. Even that may not work - if the Dyno sensors don't read the atmospheric conditions correctly, the numbers may also be different. Also, some of the atmospheric corrections, like the SAE corrections, don't work as accurately for turbocharged cars as they do for naturally aspirated cars.

High intake air temperatures can radically lower the amount of power an engine makes, too. Have you measured the intake air temps? We usually keep the intercooler temps under control by using a fan when we Dyno.

Different makes of dynos. This one was a dyno dynamics one.

I'm sort of putting it down to intake temps, they didn't use a fan on the first run then on the second they put a high power fan onto the intercooler and it was still too hot to touch after another run, it only made 1 bhp more.

If your intercooler was so hot to touch then suggest not enough airflow across it which would explain the big difference in figures regardless of Dyno make, do you know what the inlet boost temp was ?

Why was it on the dyno? Just for a test.

If you car was cool and then the intercooler got red hot after a single run them this is the reason you lost loads of power... And your ecu may have saved your engine.

Guess it also depends on which side was red hot, if just the entry was hot but the exit was cool then your safe, if the exit was also red hot I'd get it sorted ASAP.

It was a PH rolling road meet.
Just looked at the old run from when it was mapped and the new one and the power curves are pretty much exactly the same but yesterday's one started 25 bhp behind right from under 2000rpm.
Not sure which side or all of it was hot as it was just the operators telling me. Does how they strapped it down make any difference as they were struggling to find a place?

The red hot day probably didn't help either. It's just have a very full and comprehensive service anyway today so I'll see how it feels to drive next weekend. It doesn't feel any different from when I got it back from jetstream so maybe I'm worrying over nothing.
