My return from Prodrive had been spoiled by the DB9 deciding I was not to use the CD Player on my way home. Had to listen to the exhaust (valve remote position 'on') all the way home instead. Thought I would share the solution to the problem, which turned out to be a loose connection.

Car DB9 2007MY with Premium Sound system.

Problem. CD button when pressed failed to wake CD player; Radio fine, CD's would eject and reload, but system would not recognise the player, no error signals present, radio just kept playing.

Removal of fuses to reset CD changer failed to work - I could hear CD changing working (like my old Porsche it goes through each disk station to check status when it has been disconnected from power at any time), but had no effect on system recognition.

Deep breath - lets take the centre console apart. Using the great YouTube video on the subject and a degree of nervous energy, got the lower panels off and top panel loose. I decided not to remove the top panel as there is room (with a right angled screwdriver)to access the top screws of the entertainment module panel. Removed booth top and bottom screws and eased panel away from bulkhead - finding that the edge connector on the left hand side of the panel was just out of its socket - it moved about a about a millimetre when pressed which clearly was enough as all systems are now working....
