This year we only went the Saturday, weather was perfect as in 2012. We just felt a little lonely without all the other S-es. At least there were signs of Mike having being there ;-)

A bit disapointed there where no more TVRs, the britts where discouraged after the bad weather from last year.
I tought they are used to bad wheather, I was wrong

The Monaco Classic has been firmly on my "to do" list for a while. Nearly went this year but ran out of time and brownie points... but maybe not in that order!
Only problem is it is a long way to fit into our normal length tour, even for us loonies. Not impossible though
It only takes place every other year so plenty of time to think about it for 2015.I did the Monaco Classic in 2008. Brilliant event and probably better than the actual GP. We sat in the Tabac Grandstand both days and only paid 39 for entry and the Grandstand!!! IIRC it was 800 for the Sunday alone two weeks later and we saw more racing.
We stayed out at Eze and went in by train each morning.
I think you'd have to sleep with Prince Albert to get a parade lap while the event was on though. It seemed to be the preserve of Spyker and their guests the year we went. The circuit route however is open at night and I did two laps in the hire car the only part that wasn't correct was round the fountain outside the Grand Hotel...... :-))

Lingers is my Chinese cousin Andy, "that bridge" is the Millau viaduct designed by a Brit, Norman Foster. It's also on my to do list and would make a worthwhile destination on it's own because the roads in that area are terrific. In fact I had thought about us going there next year...
Monaco and back by m'way is possible... but a dull 11 hour drive each way. Apart from Millau on the way there/back we could also visit Mt Ventoux (like the moon but with more gravity!), Gorges du Tarn, Route Napoleon, western part of Alps, WRC stages like the Col du Turini (which was hilarious in a Pug 106 hire car)... etc ...
2 weeks should just about be enough!
Shame the Motorrail France has ceased to be, or hop on that for the main bulk of the journey at 125mph, save a few hours and gallons, then drive thelast few hundred miles.
More research brings up , that the Germans still run a Cartransport system on the railways to the south of France, there is a 3 hour journey to the station from Calais.
