It shouldn't. And 5 careful owners are better than one careless one etc. But 5 owners might mean an unresolved underlying issue, or that the car has not had preventative tlc as a long term keeper. Of course, most people when selling a 1 owner car I might big it up, and if buying an 8 owner car might pretend it was a problem to drive the price lower. In a low supply market it does not matter - if you find a good condition car you buy it as fast as you can!

'Condition condition condition'. The problem is that much of a car's condition is unknowable without spending a lot on an inspection, by which time you're slightly committed already.
Prior to spending a thousands squids on an inspection, it helps to have regard to various loose proxies or indicators- mileage is one; condition of paint may be another (as people who care for paint probably care also for the mechanicals; etc. Most of the things people look are just ways of getting a feel for the likely condition without getting the engine scoped, the suspension peaked at, etc
