Lack of decent camping passes for sale?
Discussion
So usually about now eBay is full of LM camping passes, and the closer you get to the event the cheaper they become. However this year there seem to be hardly any about, a couple of Houx passes going for silly money but that's it, on here and CA there are very few as well.
Is this because the unstoppable march of development has reduced the number of pitches which aren't on BSJ to the point where there just aren't enough around? Has everyone returned their un-needed tickets to the agent or ACO?
I'm going to sit tight and hold out for another couple of weeks before resigning myself to a weekend of long walks to and from BSJ but the resale market seems totally different to the last few years to me.

Maybe because people who bought tickets want to go? I've been with between 3-7 others over the past 8 years and no one has pulled out. So never been any to resale.
I'm sure the vast majority who buy tickets do end up going, but there are still a number of drop-outs, especially as many order their tickets up to a year in advance and a lot can change in that time.It just seems that this year for whatever reason there are far fewer tickets for sale than in the past.
The return of Porsche, the arrival of Mark Webber, and the prospect of a 3 horse race attracts a lot of people, and leave less tickets to the opportunists who bought them to sell for a profit.
Also, a few of those opportunists must have taken a hit the previous years with their tickets selling for rockbottom prices, so they may have opted out this year...

That is true. I didn't go last year for the first time in 6 years as my son was born 3 weeks before the race, but the year before I picked up a KN pass for about £60 two weeks before the race day and I was hoping to do the same this year (but obviously not for KN).Also, a few of those opportunists must have taken a hit the previous years with their tickets selling for rockbottom prices, so they may have opted out this year...
To me, it seems to be the only way to get a decent ticket, as the agents buy up all the passes and sell them on as packages with overpriced GE tickets as well, and even these are impossible to get as they seem to go to the same people every year meaning the rest are left with BSJ or nothing.
On the plus side at least I don't need to muck about with ferry or tunnel crossings this year.

How silly do you need it to be?????http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251530376183?_trksid=p20...
They will come eventually, the lack of tickets at the moment I'm guessing is due to the Porsche / Webber pull but eventually people will have to admit to themselves that they can't make it due to work / girlfriend / family / car / money reasons and they'll appear.
The thing that gets me every year is that so many people have them on an auction that finishes on the Friday and once or twice after the event with no option to buy it now
We jumped in early as usual with an agent

That's the plan, although the fact I don't live in the UK makes travelling to collect them tricky to say the least. The plan is to get them sent to my co-driver in London and he can bring them out to Switzerland with him before we drive up to LM. Fingers crossed, I really don't fancy the walking to and from BSJ...

Is the tram service they put on no good then ? It's a bus, and it doesn't run through the night, so getting back to the tent at 2am means walking.
It's also an even longer walk when you've got cataclysmicly drunk at the Irish bar in the city centre before heading to whatever the dubious club a couple of doors down is called (I've never been sober enough to read the sign) and missed the last tram so you have to walk back to the camp site at 5am...

Good effort!!! (I'll try to have a look when we leave the Irish Bar on the Friday night
)Aren't all French nightclubs dubious? I've seen some well dodgy ones. I went to one in Les Deux Alpes ski resort and while we were queuing to get in we saw a board with photos on with half naked people in bondage gear. The French girls we were with seemed to think it was fine which convinced us to go in... and another thing. Why are French nightclubs always full of blokes who look really p'd off when English blokes walk in with French girls???

Anyway back to the subject... Yes it's a bloody long drunken walk to Beausejour at 5am with no hope of getting little train or bus, especially if you're at the back of the field!!!

It's called Guess and used to be called Zebras. Been going there for years and now know the manager who waves us in.
They actually had a rather good dj on last year. Bit of a student club but the ladies like to practice their English
That's the one. Not sure I've ever noticed the DJ, but I do know about the girls practicing their English. See you there three weeks on Friday then! They actually had a rather good dj on last year. Bit of a student club but the ladies like to practice their English

A few years ago (3 or more) there used to be a few hundred auctions up for tickets. Passes for BSJ used to go for more than they could be bought from the ACO, GA tickets sold for more than the gate price!
MB and Houx always made big profits for the sellers.
I had thought that it was ebays policy to try to sell tickets on stubhub, however they don't seem to turn up there either.
