When you bought your new Aston (or highly priced used model) What level of treatment did you get from the dealership? I don't just mean level of politeness etc...rather more like: Did you or you wife receive a bouquet of collection? or Champagne? or anything??? Or was it just 'turn up, sign the paperwork, handover and drive away?

Interested to hear your stories..

No bubbly (I did when buying a Mercedes at one quarter of the price), but 'what the heck', they gave me the rare specification Aston of my dreams, with an enormous chunk off the new price, a discount and a professional buying process.

There were no after purchase technical issues, so did not have to test that tricky aspect.

Why did you ask Greg?
If you are about to buy an Aston Martin, all I can say, is the cars are magnificent and in addition there is the whole Aston Martin 'thing' that will grab you.

I had a great experience with both cars. Friendly people to deal with, car prepared well, and a bottle of vintage bubbly when I picked up the V12V.

I bought brand new from AM Works. Car covered and then revealed, sat inside and got the once over on controls etc. Walked around and was shown ways to open boot, key, inside switch and press the small outside button...opened up and inside a bottle of Louis Roederer champagne and a bouquet of flowers for the wife...nice!

Good on ya Works.

Delivered Christmas Eve with snow on the ground on a low loader and a night temperature of minus 12.

The car was delayed prior to delivery with PDI issues. The communication from the dealer over this period was great though and they threw various freebies in the car and free delivery.

I was bent over attending to a fire when my daughter shouted the Astons here. I whipped up, cracked my head on the overhead beam only to find out my daughter has a questionable sense of humour.

Dealership was good and friendly , buying process was very good and got a very reasonable deal on the car ,
No freebies at all though , even my lad never got his aston bear he was promised - bit slack that especially when he's 2 and dealer expressly promised it too him . Sadly that's a black mark in the book .

Those 'freebies' can be very costly. The better the gifts the smaller the discount you managed to squeeze out of them wink

bought a 9 month old used car, Got a free day at Millbrook driving other Astons, got the wheel colour changed, windows tinted ...no movement on the price as there was still a waiting list on the car and not many used models in the dealer network then

Worst experience of any new car I have bought.

Car was a dealer order so had been standing in showroom, and as a result had a visible scratch on the alloy tread plates. As part of deal they faithfully promised to have it put right, plus a full tank of petrol.

Upon collection the scratch was still there and they argued that it was not possible to put right within the margin, going against their promise. If they had "sold as seen" it would not be a problem, but they had made and broken a promise, a cardinal sin, especially as they obviously hoped we would not notice.

Plus car was not full of petrol, they tried to dodge that too, plus the first new car we have bought where no bunch of flowers or anything else.

So the whole experience was marred by them breaking a promise and part of the deal and Mrs Steve remembers the lack of flowers.

I'm afraid they allowed the common mistake of short termism to taint the possibility of a longer term customer relationship, my wife won't go in the place now.

Pretty similar.. No flowers or wine..no lamy pen either which I managed to spot. Invoice didn't match the car spec.

I don't even recall getting a key fob for the emergency door key.

Three cars from H.R.Owen in Cheltenham in 3 years. Dealt with Rachel in sales. As soon as Gaydon get their act together with the new Vantage hopefully it will be number 4.
P.S. Don't tell Molly;)

Great service at HWM. Flowers, chocolates & champagne in the boot after patient explanation of all the features on the car. Car which was spotlessly clean inside and out and held in the showroom until I arrived, full tank of petrol.

Can I just ask why people expect bunches of flowers and champagne because they bought something?

Can't you buy your own? I just don't see the connection confused

It's something of a tradition with more 'normal' dealers a way of saying thanks for your custom and we recognise you as a valued customer. They know that if they make you feel a bit special, then there is more chance that you will remember that and come back next time. Rather unlike the treatment some people get when spending many many thousands on upmarket vehicles.....

Brilliantly pretty much from start to finish, plus a bottle of Bollinger (what else - Bond's favourite) on collection!
