Hi guys,

Hopefully somebody may have an answer on this?

I have a 2003MY 996 turbo which has started to now and again blow a fuse. It happened once last summer, but I didn't think anything of it, as there was no re-occurance until the start of the warm weather we're having now.

I'm first aware of their being a problem when using the keyfob to unlock the car, which sets off the alarm. Putting in the key in the door and unlocking the car the conventional way has the car horn bleeping twice. When putting the key in the ignition, it starts first time, with the alarm still going for a short while.

I've had a look at the fuse box in the footwell and both times its been a blown 20A fuse in position C3.

Also, I've noticed that when the fuse has blown that the passenger door can't be unlocked, the windows on either side won't go down, the sunroof won't open and the central locking button on the dash won't open work either!

Anybody got any clues...or more importantly in the first instance the layout of the fuse box...so I know what each position is actually supposed to be operating?

Your help would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Scott.

Have emailed you, have fuse diagram for you.

C3 says, verbatim "CU Alarm-CL Power Window, Sunroof, CU Power top Inside Light"

Perhaps the window is sticking, so window motor blows fuse when it attempts to retract window to open door?

I could hear the motor straining in my 996 yesterday, so I'd say this was spot on. Some silicon spray in the front track and on the rear rubber sorts it out.
