Just had a go in one of these yesterday - What an awesome car, I loved it. It rides beautifully, firm yes but beautifully damped and the pace of it was incredible, plenty of space for kids and shopping, sounds really nice too. I must say the seats were also very comfortable, it's a car you can easly cover big distances in. I really want one, great daily driver that can be used anywhere. I drove the auto and have to say, it was very good. Not quite as awesome as my old E92 M3 but not far off and a much better daily proposition.

Nice to hear good things about it I really like them as a package and I think they seem hard to beat as a quick daily.

It does make a very usable DD and will return + 30 MPG without a problem. Even when enjoying yourself.

Agreed - as a quick daily, there's nothing to touch it and it's still quite a small car too, so doesn't feel massive on the tiny roads near us. I reckon it's pretty much as quick as my Cayman R and although not quite as dynamically competent as that car, it's a lot more comfortable.

So, this and the Cayman R and then we just need to figure out which 4x4 to get (I'm thinking Macan) and Bob's your uncle!

Does anybody have any ideas of where to get the best deal - looks like about 10% from Drivethedeal, without batting an eyelid, so presumably more to be had from an actual dealership?

Try Tony Lewis at cooper BMW Tunbrige Wells tony.lewis@inchcape.co.uk

He doesn't like to be beaten. And their service was second to none.

Other than nicer looking headlights IMHO, what does the 2 offer over the 1'er? Seems to me less practicality?

I just personally find a Coupe more desirable I would have never considered buying a M135i but since I went to look at the M235i it has just sucked me in big time and I appreciate you are paying more for what is essentially the same car as the M135i but I just personally prefer the 2 series.

This is why I've ordered one. My heart still wishes I had bought a Porsche, but part of me knows I needed something a bit more practical for my daily commute and for the weekend, with more realistic monthly payments. The money I'm forking out on this could have got me a 911S Gen 1 or a V8 Vantage. Okay they will be much older, but definitely a lot more special. I didn't really want another BMW, but I'm sure I will enjoy the 'tech' aspect of a modern day car over the older more prestigious cars I was looking at.

I will own a 911S 997 Gen 2 one day, or maybe something newer when I actually get round to doing it.

I had a 911 GTS and yes it's a very special experience in terms of an ownership proposition. I loved that car and in many ways I wish I'd kept it, it was good at everything. But this M235i is a great car, no it doesn't have the kudos of a Porsche and it lacks the steering feel of both my CR and the GTS but the chassis has star quality and the engine also sounds amazing, no not as good as the CR but amazing nonetheless. As a daily driver, it's hard to beat!

I have to say that I am looking forward to it - Car has a great spec (wasn't quite perfect but I didn't want to wait until September either). I don't think I'd have picked the colour combination but to be honest, it's fine. For me it's a bit of a no-brainer buy - I'm delighted!

Will do - also trying to register at babybmw but struggling with their spambot avoidance question. I'm copying and pasting but no joy!
