In the recent mini heat wave! I noticed the fans had stopped working and then started intermittently later on with temps up to 100 degrees.

Now i keep the cooling system tip top and never had any issues previously other than occassional blown fuse. I have two fans on one fuse/relay.

Having this year changed coolant and pipes and engine temp sensor(ECU)as maintenance items & both the otter switch and relay being quite new I am at a loss as to what is causing the drop out. Seems coincidence that the ambient temp rises & the problem arises. Although working when i got home, once colled the next day I connected the two otter switch connectors together to give me perm fans & they wouldn't switch on.

Ordered new otter switch & relay but they shouldn't have failed that soon surely. What else could i be looking at?

May not be the relay(s)

Have you checked the spade connectors on the fan wiring? Notorious area for getting wet/corroded/failing.
