Which current account?
Discussion
Afternoon all,
I know this has been done often but what would you lot suggest for me...
With Natwest, love their mobile app, loath everything else about them! I live in central london so branches of everyone are within a couple minutes walk so thats not an issue. I just want a simple account, debit card, small OD if needed but not used one for years, something to get my salary paid into and day to day spending. Wont have more than a few k in it ever, I keep enough in it for approx 2 months living at anytime but no more.
All I want is a bank that actually can run an account with our endlessly screwing up computer systems, payments, customer service, and wont charge me.... I got charged last month for an overdraft and a bunch of failed DDs despite the fact they were paid and I did not remotely go into over-draft! They sorted it but it's a case of that being the final straw so time to move on.
Thanks all

had no problems with HSBC and Barclays and their online banking and apps are good
HSBC have all kinds of funky conditions to their current accounts about paying so much in, or paying a monthly fee and getting this and that "free" etc but they do have a basic account there if you want it
barclays was my sole account and i had no CC, but they had a series of issues with their cashpoints and debit card processing going down at the same time so if you were out and about and did not have cash you were screwed, say, in a restaurant trying to pay etc
that prompted me to open a second account with HSBC and have a CC too in order to have a plan B

Thanks chaps. Any thoughts on Metro? I popped in there and they appear to give free dog biscuits so my hound was happy! They seem helpful and customer orientated but thats based on a 3 min chap.
Only want a basic account - I just moved into central London and no room for a car here just yet so breakdown is a waste of time, found cheaper travel and phone so all seems a bit redundant really.
I will keep with Nat West but very much only as a back-up in case I ever need it as frankly, that rabble have taken incompetence to an art form!
