Anyone know any "become a race car driver" 3 day courses?
Discussion
Hi guys, I realise this is quite a specific question so I hope putting it in General Gassing should get at least 1 or 2 hits from you lot who've done something similar.
I have a friend out here in the Middle East who already has a FIA National License and a race car, although he feels a bit out of his depth at the moment and wants to go on a holiday somewhere in the off season that has a curriculum over 3 days where he can learn as much as possible about bona-fide race car driving to really bring his skill set upto the next level.
His budget is 2-3k sterling I think but that is flexible.
He drives a GT86 race car and will be in the touring car series we run out here. Somewhere between July and the start of October is ideal.
Any and all suggestions welcome, I found plenty of 1 day courses but they're not really what he is looking for.

Thanks for looking but i think he is looking for something more along the lines of a 3 day palmersport format. I will look into it for him.
Palmers is about fun, not learning. Not to say that a driver won't pick anything up but that's not what it's really about.I'd agree about getting a decent instructor either over here or over there, may be cheaper to fly someone out than have to cover car hire costs over here…….
http://skipbarber.com/three-day-racing-school/ £2515 plus flights and has a 3 day course in MX5's at laguna Seca or Road Atlanta
http://www.jimrussell.com/en/home.cfm approx £2300 plus flights and accommodation but only single seaters

Find a decent racer/instructor and hire their services for a few days.
I could probably reccommend someone suitable that may be available.
I can't see that option costing less than £4500 for 3 days. Assuming your are using a decent name instructor. I could probably reccommend someone suitable that may be available.
Instuctor hire £500 per day
Flights £1000
Trackhire - assuming you can get 3 day consecutive hire £300 per day ( assuming trackdays not actual circuit hire)
Cost of running the car £ 500- 1000
Hotels £50 pp pn
