Absolutely gutted to have read that Simon Andrews has passed away after his crash at the NW200. You'll be hugely missed fella. Deepest condolences to his family and girlfriend at this sad time.

Such a shame! He lived in Evesham which is where I live and he's a bit of a hero here!

Local to me too.

Great shame to see a fatality, but went doing what he loved.

Part of the crash is on Youtube. I guess it may be taken down now that it's a fatal.

RIP.

I just watched it too. Absolutely horrific. At least he wouldn't have known anything about it. If that doesn't out you off bikes I don't know what will.

RIP Simon,
I met him years ago at Snetterton when he was riding for Jentins in the British Superbikes. I am not a biker and can't claim to know much about bikes at all. We had been given some team tickets and got to spend some time with him / the team in the pits.

I spoke to him for a good few minutes and remember speaking to him well. He seemed a really nice chap.

I remember asking him at the time - what bike does he ride on the road? and his response to me was that he didn't really have a road bike as riding on the roads was too dangerous and he felt much safer on the track.

I guess this was before he really got into road racing..

Ever since then, I've always looked out for his results etc and this is a real shame. Hope his family are OK.

Very sad. Met Simon a couple of times. Over used phrase perhaps, but a really nice guy.

On a different note, I too made the mistake of watching that clip. May be not the time and place but, can't imagine the car manufacture who's ad. appears before the clip will be happy. Do they not have control over where/when their ads are placed?
