Epic fail selling my Caterham
Discussion
I am selling my 1987 Super Sprint here in Belgium and had a man from the French speaking part come to look at it. I do not speak French and he did not speak English or Dutch so we had some trouble communicating. The Caterham is eligible for "old- timer" status and it was that aspect he was interested in. Unfortunatelly I did not pick up on this and proceeded to demonstrate the Caterham's acceleration and cornering abilities. He seemed somewhat disconcerted during the drive. When we got back to the garage, where my French speaking wife was waiting, he asked her if I always drove it like that. He seemed anxious to leave and I have not heard from him since.

Yes the car is still for sale. Apologies MasterBlaster. I have recently retired and had not updated my email address. I have edited my profile to reflect the change so PM should work now.

I do not know what the rules are in England but in Belgium a car qualifies for 'old timer' status if it was first registered at least 25 years ago. Old timers are subject to less stringent emissions control, lower insurance costs if you accept mileage restrictions and lower car taxes.
