A heads up for anyone thinking of upgrading or re-trimming their steering wheel.

I had for some time been appalled by the standard wheel on my BMW E60 545i - its was thin and horrible and felt like plastic compared to my other cars, even the Smart has a better wheel!

So I stumbled across www.RoyalSteeringWheels.com in Aylesbury by chance and contacted Jack who runs it.

He made up a new wheel from a spare he already had and to my exact specification. I drove up there yesterday and he fitted it within 15 minutes doing a straight swap over. The cost? a mere £140 including fitting! Tremendous value I'm sure you'll agree..

This guy's work is fantastic, he re-did the wheel for my Z3 6 months ago and it's still as good as the day I got it, real quality worksmanship.

Got my E36 M3 wheel done last weekend - superb workmanship, very reasonable price and great guy.

Even helped me fit the gear gaiter which I bought off ebay for free. Thanks Jack!

I found the steering wheel on my E63 6 series uncomfortable and too thin after a couple of hours. Jack recovered my wheel with softer leather and put extra padding in the wheel. This was about 2.5 years ago. Steering wheel is now perfect, thicker rim, softer and looks better. I went for plain Nappa with coloured stitching (in M colours as my last 7 series had this as standard)
I have done about 60k miles since and the steering wheel is as good as the day I collected it from Jack.
The care and attention to detail that Jack took was beyond reproach. A happy customer!

Another convert for jack, he did the wheel in my Z4 in black alcantara, and did a stunning job. He's just about to get my 911 rim. Why do the Germans like hard, thin steering wheels.
