Sadly, two popular PHers with pretty punchy old school turbo cars passed away in the last couple of years, and I wonder what happened with their cars?

I am obviously talking about ultraviolent and his incredible 964 turbo and JBL930 with his 933tt engined 930.

Last I heard JBL's car was advertised with the much beloved specialists in Malton, and ultraviolent's monster was sitting in Chamberlains warehouse.
This is a while ago now.

Anyone know what happened to these cars?

Didn't know either of these guys, but enjoyed their posts and definitely loved those cars!

RIP lads.

I don't know about Jon's car but UV's is now in the hands of a P'header who is on here, called Charge.

Yep they are both Turbo monsters alright. Created by two utter Petrolheads who wouldn't compromise on their end goal. Very sad reminders that life is short, so enjoy it while we are here.

I met Jon at Le mans in 2008 where he had set off in the 930 but had some issues so had to leave it at home. Great guy. I never met UV although did exchange emails and info when I had my 964T. Again, great guy and only too happy to pass on info and experiences and that car is the real deal with some mega processes and development to get it where it is.

RIP.

Hi Fredt.
Yes, I have James's 964 turbo.
I had my last turbo engine built by Richard Chamberlin on James's recommendation a few years ago so got to know him. I happened to bump into him at Brands Hatch last March and we discussed how sad it was with James and Jon passing away (Richard had only just finished the rebuild and Jons engine after a valve broke if you remember), and he mentioned he had sold the Frisinger 993, but still had the 964 turbo that the family has asked him to find a home for.
I had to have the car after all I had read, and a test drive with Richard was enough to ensure it would happen no matter what!
I have just tidied it really, and had new discs (the originals were hardly worn, but very cracked probably from the very high speed stops at Brunters), new bonnet catch and rams, refurbished wheels, new engine bulkhead pad (the original was a bit ripped and hanging down) and a remap for part throttle as it was very unhappy trying to maintain a stead seed, say 70mph. Just had some Bilstein H6 fitted with Eibach springs as the KW's nearly had me bounce off the road more than once (although have kept them incase I ever find the time for some track use).
The car is stunning and brutal in equal measure and the quality of work is a testament to James's passion, and Richards expertise!
Had it out last Thursday to an Essex meet with Mick in his 911 super sport!

Charge that's a stunning looking car!
Was the Essex meet last Thursday you mention at The Lodge, South Woodham Ferrers?
It's just down the road to me and I might just go to one in future, if I know there's going to be some other pork in attendance smile

Man that's a sweet looking car!

Great to hear it's been taken on by some who knew James and understands the amount of work and passion that went in to it!

Seeing it now makes me wish I had called Chamberlin when he announced it for sale!

I didn't know him at all really, but was close to buying his old 'lowly' 600hp engine before I decided I wanted to go my own way, so I had some interesting conversations with him.

Thanks for posting, and enjoy the car in good health!

Thank you for the kind comments chaps!
I, like a lot of people on here was on the fence with the flat nose, but the colour and 'flachbau' have certainly grown on me in the last year.
Funnily enough, I was trying to negotiate with James on the original engine, before I realised a £20k engine was wasted in a £20k car, and had Richard build a good engine for half the price.
As strange as it may seem, the original lump got sold in the end to a guy building a 935 rep, who then chopped it in for a 964 racer belonging to Dave from DSD Motorwerks, who's unit is in my yard. He has done a cracking job on the build, he finally put the engine in this week, and is almost there with it... see below!

Apart from the engine (which he will visually correct over time) the rest of the car uses pretty much correct parts and is a major reason for a drop in sales my side, due to me spending so much time watching all the work going on, and the shiny bits being bolted on over the past year!! You don't need that kind of distraction at work!!

I did go to the Lodge in South Woodham last Thursday
It is a nice meet with 3-4 Porsches, 3-4 Scoobies, 3-4 TVR's 3-4 Fezza's a few BMs and a Lambo or two if the weather is nice.
There are some who have the full dinner, but I am happy milling around with a pint checking out the metal.
They are a friendly bunch, and would certainly welcome anyone who was free to come along.
I may make The Hare one Saturday, if I ever get up early enough!
