Power steering pump upgrade
Discussion
Does anyone else have this? I've got it on mine and the pump was playing up when in service so during the little refurb I'm doing i thought id swap it out. when I bought the car there was a near identical pump in the spares box that was swapped out for the current one giving me the impression that these pumps don't last that long. so I'm just wondering what anyone else experience are and what type of pump they have and whether there is a better pump I can get. the only difference between the two pumps that have been used is the location of the reservoir spout and fluid return spout. below is the current pump I've just pulled out.
There's another pump (peugeot?) that has an integral reservoir too but using the same motor/pump assembly. Ive used both types over the years of doing those conversions, in fact not long aft I started converting cars (especially chimeara/griffiths back in the day) the factory started using the exact same setups on the T cars. So you could say its a TVR pump anyway! (I'd like to think they got the idea from me, but then again there weren't that many electric pump options 15 years ago.)
I've not heard of them being unreliable at all, quite the opposite in fact.
Using the version you have allows you to use all the existing cerbera pipework and reservoir .
