Does anyone know a good broker / insurer other than Tradex ?

15+ yrs with an excellent record, no claims, old git, good area etc

But everything I own / sell is modified.

I'm unwilling to accept TP on them - although I'd agree in the event of a claim treating them as if they were standard (ie not sourcing obsolete parts) or an agreed value etc

Thanks

Do you trade from home or have proper premises?

Amlin probably your best bet. They are a Lloyds syndicate and deal with the awkward part of the market. No, don't ask me how i know....

No need to say "other than Tradex". When you used the word "good" you ruled them out anyway.

I have trade insurance and my own personal stuff I have to insure separate, it's a nightmare, should you find a trade policy that accepts modified post up your results, I tried and failed.

The problem is that Tradex are the default option.

They say that I am insured for all cars inc modified but every year the renewal says that I'm not - I always send a covering letter (which never gets a reply) then sometimes they ask out of the blue for all my cars to be fitted with alarms / immobilizers.

I can get a policy that covers me to drive Evos / skylines for £920 yet to have a modified cars with less than half the power is costing almost double, with a fraction of the cover.

What do you mean by this?

If you have proper garage business premises (not at home) the market is entirely different and there are more potential (and proper) Insurers than if you trade from home.

You are correct in wanting to avoid Tradex

My home has premises I know many dealers with similar set ups - typically on old farms - however they are sensible and only trade standard cars.

Not many with as diverse tastes as me. biggrin

I presume you have to approach via a broker as their site only gives the number for Patrick McMillen - Head of Sales & Marketing
