Driving to work today and coming the other way was a funeral procession. Nothing unusual in that. What was unusual was that the head car, carrying the coffin, was a black, Ford Mondeo hearse ! When I go to meet my maker I'm not fussed about too much but I'm going to request I don't go in a Mondeo

There used to one local to here based on a Ford P100 pick-up, Cortina nose type.

Never noticed if the cab rear glass was still there but it did have a chrome grill!

I had 2 limos and a hearse outside the front door about 3 weeks ago (I live in a block with 9 neighbours), I think they were all Ford Tauruseses. Looked pretty good all in black. No idea who the funeral was for though, I'm a terrible neighbour

Most hearses are based on the Aussie Ford Fairlane,? Pretty sure I've spelt that wrong.

Make a good looking hearse in Coleman Milne guise I think, my favourite site the Mk2 Granada.

My Dad went in a Vectra. It was a really expensive do, and the bds have Jags on their website.

I wasn't that bothered really, didn't seem to matter that much at the time. He didn't know a car from a horse and cart, so he wouldn't have given two fks either.

I'm pretty sure Ford Transit vans (complete with the compulsory "Goods Vehicle" sticker) were regularly used as hearses in Hong Kong in the early 70's. I may even have a photo somewhere in the attic.

Ahh, the Woodall-Nicholson Hebden, as featured in Father Ted.

Personally, I'd choose to go out in a Daimler DS420. The definitive classic British hearse.
