You're gonnan have to help me out here Ted, are we talking Soccer, Rugby Football, American Football, or Aussie Rules? - or has one of us has got things upside down or even back to front? Or am I just digging too deep here?
In "Six of One and Half Dozen of the Other.."[1] A serious legal and moral point regarding "Speed, Plod and the Law" was raised. The way in which it was resolved in the courts could have serious implications for motorists in general. The thread starter was of the view that both parties were equally responsible, and others in the "choir "agreed. Some others, myself included, were of the opinion that the driver was responsible for the crime of speeding, whilst the so called "victim" was responsible for her own death. In the end, this was actually the view which the court came to. Others among the "converted" completely disagreed with both these views. Some, albeit "motorists" seemed to hold to the "think of the children - the driver is always guilty" viewpoint. This despite the "fact" that I am continuously accused of "preaching to the choir/converted"!
Other "motorists" went further, seeming to believe that if you disagreed with them you were probably an evil bastard child killer. You might think that this is "putting words into people's mouths" or even "misquoting".
I made a couple of posts on the first page. I would think they were on topic and innocuous. You clearly have a different view of my posts as you say in the "NOT Time is coming for cam destruct'n derby thread"[2]
Towman followed up my two posts with a statement of no direct relevance to the point at issue, with no reasoning to back up his opinion, or explain how it related to the point at issue (which was ultimate and basic responsibility for the outcome, not factors which could have affected it).
In a post on page 3 I tried to put this in perspective. Do you find that post unacceptable?

Please explain how, and why, Towman's posts are acceptable and mine are not. Then I might stand half a chance on keeping within your rules. Please explain why my posts are not "sensible and non-confrontational" whilst Towman's posts are!
As the "Six of One and Half Dozen of the Other.."[1] thread was going round in circles and degenerating into an argument I tried to distill the salient points of this important issue into an analogy for the "choir" to to reconsider (in the vain hope of converting the already converted?) and posted it in - "A Simple Question For Gone, Towman, and their Ilk"[3]
Some people tried to discuss the points in sensible and non confrontational way. Others not only tried to turn it into a joke thread but also started a parallel piss take thread "Has anyone seen an Ilk?".[4]
Further they trolled and flamed on love machine's thread "The time is coming for a camera destruction derby."[5] and when I tried to divert their attack onto a relevant thread "NOT Time is coming for cam destruct'n derby"[2] not only did they continmue their trolling and flaming on that, but continued it on the original!
So, as I asked, please clarify the house rules so that I can stand a chance of keeping within them.
In closing, some here seem to think it the height of bad manners to provide a reference when you make a reference. Being the perverse sort of guy I am - I beleive the opposite, so, with your indulgence -

The vast majority of people on this forum are genuinely good people, who like a bit of a laugh, and when they see someone ripe for the micky taking they can't help themselves. There's no malice intended! The ilk threads were exceedingly silly (and funny
) but it wasn't meant as a personal attack, it was just a bit of leg pulling. If it happens again (it will) join in! Show everyone you can laugh at yourself and you'll get a lot more respect. Putting peoples backs up will just increase the amount of hoof pulling
