Urgent: Tyre + fitting price from dealer?
Discussion
my recentish thread on the same topic, same tyre (rears not fronts though)

The answer is that many of the dealers are genuinely restricted by the price it costs them to buy the tyres in at and even if the can be significantly haggled down, for P Zero Corsas I think they are in a difficult position
You should be paying c. £350 for rears and c 300 for fronts (each), fitted IMO, unless things have changed between then & now. Just google buy tyres online, click on some of the links, put your correct spec in and look at the quotes. Many of these places will do something where you pay for the tyre & fitting online and choose a garage local to you where they will send the tyre for you to visit for the fitting
Whilst some places are generally cheaper than others, there is no one single always best place for tyres - it depends on stock levels, recent deals, etc hence having to shop around each time you do it
I got the best price I could online then went to my local Barry & Wilkinson and gave them the option to price match, which they did. I gave that option to Stratstones who couldn't come close
Just clicked the first one I came across on google

My dealer (you can guess which) is trying to extort £555 for supplying and fitting a new P-Zero Corsa Direzionale front tyre.
Thoughts on a reasonable price? Retail appears to be c. £230.
I have 2 front tyres in my lock up that came from Retman's V12V. They have about 5mm on them and if you pay for them to be picked up, you can have them. That solves the problem for a few thousand miles Thoughts on a reasonable price? Retail appears to be c. £230.

The cheapest online places I've found are generally Camskills (but stock can be patchy and you have to arrange your own fitting) or mytyres (slightly more, they ship from the continent, have better stock and can arrange and pay for fitting at a local tyre place). Both these options will take a few days to make happen. I typically order on a Monday night from mytyres and I'm having them fitted Friday afternoon.
Others obviously exist and special offers often come up but I usually end up at mytyres for the price/convenience mix and I can't be that bothered to continually crawl the net and only end up saving £3.
Unless the wear is low on the opposite side, I'd also be inclined to buy a pair. If its half warn, then its in effect only half the cost of the tyre and a lot more peace of mind.

Agree with all that. My reason however for not worrying too much about where I get the quote from is I only use it as leverage at the local B&W. They normally come up as an option as the fitter when ordering online, however they earn a pittance that route. By offering them the chance to price match the complete deal, they make far more money and they are across the road to my office so a neighbouring business so I much prefer them to make the money than someone elseOthers obviously exist and special offers often come up but I usually end up at mytyres for the price/convenience mix and I can't be that bothered to continually crawl the net and only end up saving £3.

As for Zod;s question, I believe the dealers have to buy from AM who charge full whack and they are between a rock and a hard place. THey quite literally could not get close and I believe I have a decent relationship with them - I kept them fully informed of what I was doing and they couldn't argue - it was all very amicable
That is a sensational price - perhaps you get to keep the mechanic?
On a more sensible note, is it that they don't have the gear and have to get the wheel off, order the tyre from a large tyre place, have them fit it, bring it back and put it on the car?
I've paid 185 a corner, fitted for fronts and 245 a corner, fitted for rears (Goodyear F1 Eagle II's)

nope, p zero corsas are simply very expensive to buy. The option tyre (regular zeros) are somewhat cheaper, the Bridgestone RE050 specified on the V8 (assuming the standard V8 specced tyre hasn't changed) is significantly cheaper again. On a more sensible note, is it that they don't have the gear and have to get the wheel off, order the tyre from a large tyre place, have them fit it, bring it back and put it on the car?

Tyreleader seem to have some of the best prices (the tyres come from Germany).
Is this the correct size?

They will send them to a local fitter.

The tyre has been fitted. It had a screw in it.They didn't quote a price, so I'm pissed off with them. It's more than they've charged before. The tyre on the other end of the axle isn't so worn because it was replaced ten months ago also due to a puncture.
The cheeky sods also tried to sell me two rears because they're down to 4mm. I am very pleased with the rear end grip at the moment, so I told them no. I certainly won't be getting them to replace them in a couple of months when I've worn them down.
I'm waiting for a service manager call to justify the cost. He tried to call, but I was in a board meeting.
